Since the establishment of the company, we have brought forward the idea of performing our social responsibility while at the same time creating material wealth. This core value is commonly shared in our company and has become the essence of our company culture.
On August 18, 2006, CINIC made its first contribution to the Yunnan Youth Development Foundation (Project Hope). The donation was used to rebuild a HOPE primary school in Mile County, Yunnan Province. We continued to make contributions since then and have so far rebuilt 15 CINIC HOPE Schools (two under construction) in Yunnan and Guizhou Provinces of China. More than 5000 local students benefit from our donations.
Our efforts go beyond rebuilding these schools. We organize a biennial essay contest for fourth and fifth graders studying at these schools. And we sponsor the top five winners and their instructors for visiting Shanghai. We are building a strong connection with these schools through such activities. We will continue to care and support the students in hopes of providing a platform that lets them broaden their horizons and achieve their best. We remain committed to our goal of donating at least one school per year to steadfastly support the Project Hope* program in China so more and more under-privileged children will have the equal opportunity for an education.
Our employees are also enthusiastic in helping the community in which we live and work. In USA, CINIC America is a sustained donor to Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council** (GPLC) based in Pittsburgh, PA.
*: Project Hope is a public welfare undertaking, initiated and organized by the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF), which enlists extensive support from home and abroad to assist dropout students and those at risk of dropping out to continue schooling in China's rural, poverty-stricken areas.
**: Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, a non-profit corporation, is a national leader in adult education and family literacy and provides educational programs for 4,600 adults and families each year in the Pittsburgh area. Its students become better parents, workers, and citizens as a result of these programs.
